Is Witcher 3 Remastered a Free Upgrade?
Who gets the free Witcher 3 Remastered upgrade and what CD PROJEKT RED has confirmed so far.
Current answer
Yes. CD PROJEKT RED describes Remastered as a free upgrade for existing The Witcher 3 owners on qualifying platforms. The publisher has not yet published a complete platform-by-platform entitlement matrix, so eligibility should be checked against the store account that owns the game.

What “qualifying platforms” means today
The official announcement confirms a free upgrade but does not provide a complete entitlement chart. Owning the game on one storefront should not be treated as proof of eligibility on a different storefront or console family.
The original expansions are a separate benefit
CD PROJEKT RED also announced that current owners receive Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine at no additional cost. That benefit is separate from Songs of the Past, whose price and owner-entitlement rules are not published in the checked official pages.
What to check before launch
Use the same platform account that owns The Witcher 3, confirm the qualifying edition in its store listing, and avoid third-party “upgrade key” offers. This page will be updated when CD PROJEKT RED publishes detailed entitlement rules.
