How to Download the MW4 Open Beta
The MW4 Open Beta download window has ended. Review the archived storefront routes, beta-file limits, reward rules, and October 23 full-game next step.

Current answer
The MW4 Open Beta ended September 1 at 10:00 AM PT, so the former store download routes no longer provide a playable beta session. A beta listing or installed beta file does not unlock the October 23 retail game. Keep the installation only if your platform or Activision publishes a reason to do so; earned cosmetic rewards are tied to the Activision Account rather than the local beta files.

During the beta, players opened Xbox Store, searched for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Beta, and installed the separate listing. That route is now historical. If the listing remains visible, do not treat visibility as proof that matchmaking is still open.

The former route used the Modern Warfare 4 Beta listing in PlayStation Store, then launched it from Home or Game Library. The window has ended; an installed client or visible library tile does not extend server access.

Steam previously exposed Play Now beside the beta, while Battle.net used the MW4 Beta game version. Those steps are archived because Weekend Two is over. The retail game remains a separate entitlement and installation for October 23.

Nintendo eShop previously distributed the separate beta download. Participation required an Activision Account, internet connection, and Nintendo Switch Online membership. Those requirements did not convert the time-limited beta into retail ownership.

Is the MW4 Open Beta a separate download?
Yes. Activision directs players to a dedicated beta listing or beta game version.
Can I preload the MW4 Open Beta?
Yes. Open Beta preload began August 26 at 9:00 AM PT on all supported platforms.
Why can’t I find the MW4 Beta?
The beta window ended September 1. A missing or disabled listing after the end time is expected and is not evidence of an account problem.
Does the installed beta unlock the full MW4 game?
No. The retail game launches October 23 and requires its own entitlement and installation.
Do I need to redownload for Weekend Two?
No if Weekend One is already installed; Activision says the same beta installation carries forward.
